SAN SALVADOR, July 4, 2008.- Puerto Rico
downed Guatemala 3-0 and got the chance to
play for the fifth position in the U-21
Men’s Continental Championship being held
here.
The Puerto Ricans won by score of 25-15,
25-13, 25-16 and even the fact that was
their first victory it is fair to
recognize they have been a tough team
against all the opponents.
Coach Carlos Rodríguez continued to use
all his personnel, with the exception of
Sequiel Sanchez, who is still nursering a
back problem.
“We played loose, enjoyed the match and
now we go after the fifth place,” said
Rodríguez. “You go to all the competitions
to win or lose, our team is better than a
fifth place but the circumstances decided
it,” he added.
Puerto Rico will meet Dominican Republic
tomorrow for the fifth place of the
competition.
Luisel Otero was the best Puerto Rican
scorer with 11 points, and the captain
Omar Rivera finished with 10. Guatemala
